For the 2018 model year, we will get an exciting new addition in the form of the fastest Ford Mustang ever. The 2018 Mustang GT will feature a redesigned 5.0-liter V8 that will belt out 460 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. When this engine is set to Drag Strip mode, it can reach 60 mph in under 4 seconds.
“Gearing matters, and in Drag Strip mode, this car launches better than ever off the line,” Mustang chief engineer Carl Widmann said in a news release.
Drag Strip mode delivers the maximum amount of performance and acceleration while driving in a straight line. It does this by optimizing the gear shifts in the 10-speed automatic transmission. There are also four other driving modes: Normal, Sport, Track, and Snow/Wet.
The GT trim will also come standard with a burnout feature that will let anyone burn some rubber before tearing down the track.
And, while going fast and making noise are great, it isn’t always what you want to do. For those times when you need to be a bit stealthier, there is a quiet mode on the available active exhaust system.
The 2018 Ford Mustang will go on sale here at Romeo Ford starting in October.
